The Capreolus Duo was founded out of a shared interest in exploring the sonic and stylistic variety of two guitars and bringing it closer to the audience. Their program leaves nothing to be desired, ranging from classical music to Brazilian rhythms and the avant-garde. The varied pieces and the virtuoso yet soulful interaction captivate the audience. It is important to both guitarists to perform works by female composers, as these are often missing from standard programs. Both Julian Richter and Verena Merstallinger hold Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in guitar, are experienced chamber musicians, and have won several awards. Their debut as the Capreolus Duo took place in November 2024 in Upper Austria and during a concert tour in Germany.
